If you smell gas:

• Telephone national grid gas immediately on 0800 111999

• Turn of the supply at the main gas valve
• Open all doors and windows
• Don’t smoke, use naked flames or turn electric switches on or off
• Telephone us

Gas Appliance Servicing

Please remember that it is important to have a gas service and safety check once a year and the Trust is legally required to carry out the gas safety check.

Your safety is of the utmost importance to us. Gas safety checks are for gas leaks as well as for carbon monoxide. Not only does this ensure your safety, it also means that your heating system is likely to be more reliable and less likely to break down. If we cannot gain access to carry out the annual safety check, we will commence legal proceedings to gain access to your home. This may result in you paying the legal costs of the Trust and the Trust obtaining an injunction in order to access your property.

The Trust operate a prize draw scheme for gas servicing. Each quarter all the names of those residents who have allowed contractors to carry out the service at the first request get entered into a draw. The first name drawn wins £100 of vouchers.

You must ensure that any gas appliances that you own are also serviced regularly. You should never cover or block air vents as this may cause carbon monoxide to build up, which can be fatal, as well as failures in the equipment, which may result in additional costs to you for repairs. Please ensure that if you have permissions to install a gas appliance, it is done by a Gas Safe registered installer.
